Alice’s Workout Room
Perched along the hilltops of Mt. Lookout, this workout room reads as a compact pavilion—equal parts training studio and outdoor living room—set into a terraced landscape. A series of broad, curved steps and a low seat wall choreograph the approach, creating an amphitheater-like forecourt that doubles as a warm-up zone, social perch, and viewing platform to the trees beyond.
The building itself is defined by contrast and precision: a dark, monolithic exterior frame anchors the volume against the bright sky, while a warm, wood-lined soffit and interior millwork pull light inward. This dark/light pairing is doing more than “style”—it’s a spatial device that sharpens depth and outlines the body in motion. Under the recessed ceiling, the controlled illumination reads like a stage wash: it reduces visual noise, isolates the training zone, and makes the human figure the most legible object in the room. Currently under construction.
